There’s a new wave of podcasters coming...will you be one of them?

I thought I’d finally made it. Until I realised I couldn’t pee when I wanted.

When I finished school, I didn’t know the first thing about business.

I wasn’t raised by entrepreneurs.

I was raised by workers. Hard-working, well-meaning people who followed the rules, clocked in and out, and held their breath until payday.

So that’s what I did, too.

I got the degree. Landed the job. Earned the title.

Had 12 weeks off a year. Paid.

By all accounts…I’d made it.

But here’s what no one wants to talk about:

Security isn't sovereignty.

And just because something is stable doesn’t mean it’s yours.

I lived by the bell.

Taught what I was told, when I was told.

Ate when I was allowed.

Couldn’t even go to the toilet when I needed to.

It looked like freedom on paper. But it felt like a slow disappearing act.

You don’t own your time. You rent it.

And when you start to question that, when you ask, “Is this it?” you’re met with silence. Or shame. Or both.

You’re told to be grateful. To not want more. That you are lucky and not to be selfish.

Until you no longer feel anything. You feel tired, burnt out, and certainly not lucky.

What I felt a decade ago, other educators are feeling more and more every day. Just last week, I spoke with two friends who both said they were done!

But the trouble is, they are locked into the system, the mortgage, the entrenchment of feeling like they could never be an entrepreneur, because it means you no longer feel 'safe'.

The leap, as they call it, is just too scary.

I get it. I've been there. Done that.

Sometimes it's just too hard and the leap feels too big.

But here’s what I’ve learned on the other side:

Security and safety isn't sovereignty.

Real freedom isn’t being able to simply work your entire life to pay a moratge.

What if it could be different?

Making passive income or working from your laptop.

Waking up and choosing your projects. Your people. Your path.

And for a growing number of us, that starts with a podcast.

A podcast isn’t just a show. It’s a signal. It tells the world: this is what I stand for.

And soon? It becomes the reason people hire you, partner with you, or pay you.

But it only works if you build it right.

That’s the part most people miss. And why some of us are quietly building something new.

A space for creators who aren’t just playing the algorithm.

They’re building platforms of influence, alignment, and income, without waiting for permission.
